Bloody Duel

The rivalry between Arsenal and Manchester United has been going on since 1894 when these two teams first played against each other. Man U has won the most, 90 wins to Arsenal's 78, the two teams have tied 46 times.  Obviously the devils have the lead and they have prospered over the Gunners in the recent years.

The rivalry is renewed tomorrow as the two teams meet at Emirates Stadium, home for Arsenal FC. So far this season Man U is doing better than Arsenal with the help of a former gunner. Robin Van Persie left Arsenal in the summer for greener pastures at Man U. He has been key in Man U's past few wins. Basically, one can claim he was the "missing Devil"! He will be a big factor in the game tomorrow.

In the most recent 2 games against different opponents, Arsenal won both while Man U won one. Arsenal seems to have the edge after beating 10-man QPR and Reading FC. Arsenal had their best comeback this season in an inferior encounter against Reading FC. Quick recap on the amazing comeback, Arsenal came from 4 goals down, scored 3 more, and won the game 7 to 5 in extra time.

It took some questionable calls by the referee for Man U to beat Chelsea, last weekend. In the midweek Carling Cup match, Man U lost to Chelsea in extra time, however Man U played most of their reserve players unlike Chelsea who used most of the main team players.

In midweek Carling Cup matches, both Arsenal and Man U played their reserve players in preparation for the clash of the titans tomorrow. Earlier I mentioned Robin Van Persie being a major factor. However he might have a hard time playing against Arsenal at home. It will be weird for him and he might feel like in hell with the fans jeering at him. If R.V.P goes cold, Man U will either settle for a tie or a loss.

Arsenal needs this game more than Man U, because Arsenal is trailing Man U by six points.  The Devils would love the three points to lead #1 Chelsea.  A boost for Arsenal is improved performance by some key players. Theo Walcott scored a hat trick against Reading FC over the week and he can keep the fire burning tomorrow against Man U. Arguably, he's the fastest player in the premier league. Giroud had a good game against Reading FC and he is still on the verge of establishing his command in the premiership.  King Santi Carzola needs to have his best game ever in the midfield.  Arsenal's defense has a huge task of stopping Van Persie, former teammate last season.  Playing at home is a another big boost for Arsenal and actually the fans might kindly give Van Persie a hot hell at the Emirates Stadium.

My predictions would be for an Arsenal win but Man U is too good at the moment for an injury-plagued Arsenal, so I'm not placing my little money on them. Arsenal will win the game if they defend well while Man U can win it if Van Persie has a good game. Go GUNNERS! Who wants the devil anyways!?!

I know other teams in the EPL are playing but who cares when a battle like this ON!?! :) Don't hate me because next week I might analyze all the weekend games' results.

Only if you care about this, my friend's Eckerd College won against #4 Lynn University, NCAA III soccer.
